Auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Bard Bus)

Apex Theatre Studio will present its fifth annual Bard Bus, a touring production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This year the company will perform at five different venues in the Northeast Florida area over the course of ten days. ( June 12th-28th ). Roles are available for a cast of twenty.

The Royals

Hippolyta – A captured Amazonian Queen, powerful and unconquered Theseus – The ruler of Athens from Greek Mythology, a mighty warrior

The Lovers

Hermia – a hot tempered rebellious young woman who is jealous of Helena’s beauty + stature

Lysander – a poetic young man, he is Romeo without the tragedy

Helena – a lovely young woman who suffers the agonies of unrequited love, slow to anger

Demetrius – an insensitive and fickle young man who easily falls in and out of love

The Workmen (Rude Mechanicals)

Peter Quince – a funny industrious working-class carpenter, the intelligent one of the group

Bottom – an oblivious amateur, overconfident in his idiocy, a weaver Flute – an amateur actor and bellows-mender, he plays the female roles in the companies plays

Snout – a tinker, comic relief and amateur actor

Starveling – a tall thin tailor, not a very talented actor

Snug – slow of study, not the sharpest knife in the drawer, a wood joiner The Fairies

Titania – a steadfast and gracious queen who knows what she wants Oberon – a compassionate, yet jealous and taunting ruler

Puck – a mischievous, friendly sprite, a practical joker, Oberon’s jester of sorts

Peaseblossom – a young sweet fairy Cobweb – a tenacious fairy not easily brushed aside

Moth – a delicate fairy Mustardseed – an attentive fairy to Titania The Court

Egeus – Hermia’s father, demanding and forceful

Philostrate – snobbish, uptight Master of the Revels under Theseus Ensemble Fairies and Attendants Rehearsal dates early May thru June 12th

Tour dates June 13th thru June 29th. with stops at Johansen Park in Atlantic Beach, Historic Ritz Theatre in Brunswick Georgia, Lewis Auditiorum at Flagler College as well as other venues in Northeast Florida.
