Auditions for our fall studio show, Lost In Yonkers by Neil Simon. By America’s great comic playwright, this memory play is set in Yonkers in 1942. Bella is thirty-five years old, intellectually-disabled, and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz. As the play opens, ne’er-do-well son Eddie deposits his two young sons on the old lady’s doorstep. He is financially strapped and taking to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to contend with Grandma, with Bella and her secret romance, and with Louie, her brother, a small-time hoodlum in a strange new world called Yonkers. ROLES AVAILABLE: JAY – 16. ARTY – 13 and a half. EDDIE – Their father, BELLA – neat and sweet and pretty. GRANDMA KURNITZ – Eddie and Bella’s mother, a big woman, buxom, with a strong body, 70-odd years of age. PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE WILL BE PLAYED BY A TEACHING ARTIST LOUIE – Her other son, doesn’t look like he’d be the hugging type AUNT GERT -another of Grandma Kurnitz’s children. Rehearsals Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturdays 1:00-3:15 Production week (October 19th) every night Performances are October 22nd (7:00 p.m.) October 23rd (7:00 p.m.) October 24th 3:00 p.m.) Tuition: $350 (35 contact hours/$10 per hour)
