Auditions for Matilda (musical) younger roles only including Matilda

Apex Theater Studio in partnership with the theatre program at Alan D. Nease Highschool will present the Broadway musical Matilda, based on Roald Dahl’s beloved youth novel.

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!

Packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs and an unforgettable star turn for a young actress, Matilda is a joyous girl power romp.

Auditions: Tuesday, January 13th  4:30-6:30 p.m. (singing and dancing)

Callbacks (cold reads) Thursday, January 15th 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays 4:30-6:30 p.m. (classroom characters)

Thursdays 5:00-7:00 p.m. (principals)

Saturdays 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (ensemble numbers)

First rehearsal Tuesday, January 20th

Performances April 9th, 10th, and 11th at Alan D. Nease Highschool Performing Arts Center

Tuition: $425 (36 contact hours/11.75 per hour)  Payment plans available.
