Bard Bus presents Twelfth Night at the Backyard Stage at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre

Apex Theatre Studio will present Shakespeare’s hilarious and touching romantic comedy, Twelfth Night on July 14th and 15th at the Backyard Stage at the Amp.

A young woman, Viola, is shipwrecked in a foreign land and separated from her twin brother, dresses as man to enter the service of Orsino, duke of IIlyria. Complication ensue-deceptions, infatuations, misdirected overtures, malevolent pranks as everyone is drawn into the hilarious confusion.

“This is the fifth year we have been able to bring Shakespeare to the community and it feels less like a play and more like a party,” remarked Raines Carr, artistic director for the production. Gates open early so patrons can take advantage of food trucks, concessions (bar included) and the music from two local North Florida bands: The Willowacks (July 14th) and Folk Is People (July 15th) playing sets at 7:00 p.m.

The production is sponsored in part by the Friends of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, St. Johns Cultural Council, and the Tourist Development Council.

The company features professional actors, teaching artists, and students from Apex Theatre Studio located in World Golf Village.
