Bard Bus: Hamlet in 75 at St. Augustine Amphitheatre

On Friday, January 7 and Saturday, January 8, 2022, Apex Theatre Studio’s Bard Bus will present Hamlet in 75, a retelling of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy set in the backwoods of Northeast Florida, live at the Backyard Stage at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow Friday, December 10 at 10:00am at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and Ticketmaster.com. The Backyard Stage at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre is presented by Intuition Ale Works.

In its fourth year, the Bard Bus presents contemporary touring productions of Shakespeare’s plays for audiences in the North Florida/South Georgia region. “The seventy-five refers to the running time of the performance,” remarked Ian Mairs, Managing Director of Apex Theatre Studio. “We do a lot of school shows, and that is an ideal running time for young audiences. We hope families will venture out to take in this show under the winter stars.”

The production features Apex students, faculty, and guest artists. New York-based actor, Nick Case, plays the title role. A graduate of Penn State’s prestigious theatre program, he has appeared in regional theaters across the country. “It’s exciting to work with such a committed group of young artists,” commented Case. “They are working diligently to bring the text to life as they discover how timely this play can be.”
